Good News Story — North Austin Round Rock ISD Is Investing Big in Schools This Summer

This summer, something exciting is happening across Round Rock — and it's happening in the places that matter most: the schools.

Round Rock ISD has officially kicked off the first major phase of construction funded by the community-approved 2024 bond program, a $932 million investment that voters greenlit to improve campuses across the district. As the school year winds down, construction crews are ramping up.

Major projects breaking ground this summer include comprehensive renovations at Berkman Elementary, McNeil High School, Westwood High School, Pearson Ranch Middle School, and several other campuses.

And it doesn't stop at buildings. Athletic facility upgrades are also underway, with lighting replacements already completed at Round Rock and Westwood high school softball facilities, and baseball facilities at McNeil, Round Rock, and Stony Point.

Beyond the big projects, smaller but meaningful improvements are happening across many campuses this summer — LED lighting upgrades for sports fields, water bottle filler replacements, fire alarm improvements, track resurfacing, roofing replacements, and playground upgrades.

This isn't just construction — it's a community keeping its promise to its kids. When voters approved these bonds in 2024, they were saying: we believe in the future of this place. Now that future is being built, one campus at a time.

For families already here and those considering a move to North Austin, this is a signal that Round Rock ISD is not standing still. It's growing, improving, and investing in the next generation.
