Good News in Round Rock: Major $1B Development Moves Forward

Exciting growth continues in Round Rock as a massive mixed-use project officially began its next phase this month. A $1 billion development known as “The District” is moving forward, with construction starting on the project’s first residential and retail phase called Origin.

The development will introduce a 316-unit residential community along with ground-floor retail space, bringing new housing, businesses, and jobs to one of the fastest-growing cities in the North Austin region.

City leaders see the project as a transformational step for the community. Over time, the full 65-acre development is expected to grow into nearly four million square feet of mixed-use space, including shopping, dining, housing, and gathering areas designed to create a walkable destination for residents.

Projects like this do more than add buildings—they help shape how a city grows. The District is expected to bring:

  • New housing options for residents moving to the area

  • Additional retail and restaurant spaces

  • New job opportunities during and after construction

  • A modern mixed-use environment where people can live, work, and gather

As the North Austin region continues to attract new residents and businesses, investments like this show the long-term confidence developers and city leaders have in the area.

Round Rock has long been known for its strong local economy, family-friendly neighborhoods, and proximity to Austin. Developments like The District highlight how the city is continuing to evolve while adding amenities that support long-term growth and livability.
